Wobblers

When your baby moves around but is not that steady on their feet, they are then classified as a Wobbler and move rooms to where they can toddle, wobble or crawl to their hearts content. Our Wobbler room, age 1 year to 2 years old, consists of a dedicated play room, a sleep room and two changing room. We adhere to the HSE Staff Ratio’s of 1:5.

  • The primary challenge for children at that stage is to discover and explore the world around them using all their senses.
  • For a Wobbler every day is a wonderful adventure and at Bessborough centre crèche we encourage “our” Wobblers to explore the world, while at the same time providing safe and trusting environment.
  • Their curriculum provides the stimulation and excitement necessary for a happy, healthy Wobbler to thrive. Although there is a structured curriculum, we believe that all learning and activities should be child led.

The Wobbler Room

The room encourage your child’s development by using a variety of toys and equipment to aid and refine your child’s physical, intellectual, emotional and social skills.

  • The Wobbler Room is divided into separate work areas and autonomous play and exploration is encouraged.

  • Home corner and Role-play, music, arts and crafts feature also and continue to promotion self-awareness and confidence.

The Sleep Room

  • The move to the Wobbler room reduces a child to one sleep a day. Where a child is struggling to adjust, staff will facilitate the adjustment period by holding a cot in the baby room enabling an extra sleep.
  • Each child has their own individual bed, approved by the HSE.
  • A staff member is present and monitoring all children while asleep.

Out Door Space

  • The Bessborough Centre Crèche has access to an amazing parkland grounds and Wobblers are taken for a walk every day, weather permitting. Providing children with the experience of the outside world, the sun, the wind and sometime the odd rain shower!.

  • Outside they get a chance to explore and develop their ability, discover and see how the world changes through the seasons.
