Medical Policy

Children and staff ongoing health and safety is of paramount to all of us. Whilst we are aware that parents lead busy demanding lives and have additional stress and pressure when your child is sick. We know that you understand the importance of adhering to our medical policy.

Children with a high temperature

    • 100+ Degrees a child should not be brought to crèche, as they will be sent home.
    • If your child presents a temperature of 100+ in crèche and it can’t be brought down after administering agreed medication, you will be requested to collect your child.
    • Children under 2 years of age may occasionally present a high temperature due to “teething” Staff will inform parents if this is the case and will administer Calpol or similar medication.
  • Parents must always agree to collect/arrange for their child to be collected within an hour of being requested.
  • Children with contagious conditions must not attend crèche until the relevant number of days for exclusion have elapsed i.e. Conjunctivitis conjunctive, rotavirus etc

Medication

    • All prescribed medication must be clearly labelled with; child name, dosage, expiry date & doctors’ name and number.
    • A child taking oral antibiotic for the first time may not attend the Bessborough Centre crèche for a period of 24 hours, no exceptions made.
    • If staff are not happy with a child’s ongoing health, we may request a letter from a doctor stating that the child in question is fit to attend and does not require medication.
