Babies
The Bessborough Centre Crèche takes babies from four months to 12 months. Our childcare baby unit consists of a dedicated play room, sleep room and changing room, with access to an extension range of outdoor space.
Daily Routine
In the baby room, the staff work with the parents to understand your baby’s daily routine, but in time they start to fall into the room routine.
The Play Room
- Is a colourful and stimulating environment, equipped with under floor heating.
- Has a variety of age appropriate toys and equipment which will meet every baby’s overall developmental needs in a cosy environment.
- They are stimulated in a learning capacity where there is an element of holistic play in their equipment. They have mirrors and tactile equipment and toys to satisfy their natural curiosity.
The Sleep Room
- Offers a soothing, calm atmosphere where your baby can sleep as and when they need.
- Is where each child under one has their own individual cot for the duration of their stay in the baby sleep room.
- A viewing window enables staff to view the babies while sleeping from the play room, but this does not substitute physical checking of the babies, which is every 10 minutes.
The Changing Room
- Separate room to allow babies nappies to be changed in comfort.
- Also contains a viewing room from the playroom.
Out Door Space
- The Bessborough Centre Crèche has access to an amazing parkland grounds, a purpose built playground in a walled in garden and direct access to a grassy area from their room. Providing babies with the experience of the outside world, the sun, the wind and sometime the odd rain shower!. Buggies are also provided by the crèche.
Staff
- Our staff continuously work very hard to build a bond and trust with each baby to promote successful development and self esteem.
- Majority of our staff are all highly qualified minimum Fetac5, Fetac6 in training and a few degree holders.
- All staff are formally trained in either Occupational First Aid or Paediatric first Aid.
And Most Importantly
- Our Staff ensure your baby is never short on the cuddles and hugs front! Why, because “We need 4 hugs a day for survival. We need 8 hugs a day for maintenance. We need 12 hugs a day for growth” —Virginia Satir, family therapist.
Menu’s
- Food is prepared daily, offering good quality and highly nutritionally balanced diets, see menu displayed on notice board.
- Meals provided are age appropriate, slowly introducing different foods i.e. baby bowl, chewy bowl or dinner.
- Special dietary requirements catered for.
Parents Feedback
- Babies receive a daily feedback sheet outlining the baby’s’ day, these reports outline each child’s sleep, meals, nappy changes/toileting, medical administration and activities they were involved in each day.
- Staff will discuss with parents on a regular basis their child’s progress on their development in the key areas of physical, intellectual, linguistic, emotional and social development.
- Parents are encouraged at any time to discuss their baby’s every changing requirement.

The visits may continue for some time, until we feel your child is comfortable with their new environment.
Immunisation
- Please note should your child not have their immunisation before commencing in the crèche they are vulnerable to picking up infections.
Please do not bring your child in to the crèche if they are unwell. They won’t be happy and could also infect other children
